A New Way to Help Pets in Need – Robert Parkins

To alleviate the emotional burden placed on veterinarians, and to assist pet parents who are unable to afford a procedure, Robert and his brother formed myBalto, a resource for pet hospitals to raise funds for pets in need.

In a recent episode of All My Children Wear Fur Coats, we met up with Dr. Pol and Diane Pol at Global Pet Expo 2024 (our third time meeting them), to hear about their recent activities including their new line of pet food, animal feed, and wellness products.

Dr. Pol’s love for animals began on his family’s dairy farm in the Netherlands. At a young age, he knew he wanted to become a veterinarian. Dr. Pol attended Utrecht University and graduated in 1970. After practicing veterinarian medicine for over a decade, he moved to Weidman, Michigan to start his own practice. In 2011, Dr. Pol teamed up with Nat Geo WILD to showcase his experience as a veterinarian. The show followed Dr. Pol as he travelled throughout rural Michigan, tending to various animals for 14 hours a day.
