This week, on All My Children Wear Fur Coats, Chance Palmer shared the story of his entrepreneurial journey and explored the benefits of freeze-dried pet treats.

Chance Palmer is the founder and owner of Pet Popcorn, a company that manufactures single-ingredient, freeze-dried treats for dogs and cats. Chance’s idea originated when his family purchased a freeze dryer to create healthier snacks for their pets, Lolly and Asher. The name Pet Popcorn was inspired by the way freeze-dried ground beef resembles popcorn, with its light, inflated texture. Chance was a full-time student at Colorado University when he launched the business, often sacrificing nights and weekends to get Pet Popcorn off the ground. However, his passion for the venture made it feel more like a rewarding pursuit than a chore.

Chance broke down the 24-hour freeze-drying process behind his products. After the ingredients are placed on a tray and sealed in an airtight chamber, they are cooled to extremely low temperatures. As the process continues, the liquid content in the meat moves to the sides of the chamber, where it gradually solidifies. The freeze dryer then heats the chamber to high temperatures, allowing the remaining moisture to be fully eliminated. The product is then removed and defrosted, and the ice is discarded.

Pet Popcorn currently offers seven core flavors: chicken breast, turkey breast, tilapia, beef liver, bison liver, pork tenderloin, and salmon. Chance outlined his plans for expansion, aiming to introduce new and unique flavors that are rarely found in pet stores. All of Pet Popcorn’s ingredients are proudly sourced within the United States. Chance emphasized his commitment to keeping the treats healthy and free of any unwanted additives. Thanks to the naturally long shelf life of freeze-dried meat, Chance avoids using preservatives altogether. An unopened package of Pet Popcorn stays fresh for two years and does not require refrigeration. Not only are the snacks nutritious, but they’re also irresistibly tasty. Chance shared examples of dogs and cats going to great lengths to get their paws on the treats—some even opening cabinets and chewing through backpacks! According to Chance’s empirical evidence, even the pickiest of eaters enjoy these unique snacks.

Pet Popcorn is currently available for purchase in over 100 pet stores across the United States. To learn more about Pet Popcorn, or to place an order, visit PetPopcorn.com. Follow Pet Popcorn on social media at Instagram.com/PetPopcorn and Facebook.com/PetPopcorn.
